the BEST friend to have
If you take nothing from this, just know that I believe you are important. I may not have a reason why but my God loves you so the least I can do is get to know you.
God’s got a funny sense of humor y’all. He thinks that a sinner is His most beautiful creation. Out of everything in this world, not a mountain, not a painting, not a waterfall, but a sinner.
That right there should tell you that YOU are important. I don’t care what you’ve done or what you just called your sibling, YOU, reading this, even that person you cussed out at the red light, yeah we are ALL important. God uses every single person to make the world go around. I’m sure you can agree it’s hard to have patience with certain people at times, but our God doesn’t make any mistakes. Period.
The older I get, the more I realize that the number of my “true friends” goes down. My problem is that I’ll get really close to one person and depend on them for things like; advice, laughs, company, trust, loyalty, empathy, and endless love. I end up wanting to hang out with them all of the time, show them off and tell everybody how great they are, and always count on them to be there. Then they mess up, because they’re not God, they’re not perfect, and it hurts me.
I’ve come to learn not to make friends based off of our shared interests and similarities. Now I like making friends with people that are somewhat different from me. I mean, if I’m not getting out of my comfort zone and trying new things then how is God going to use me? Get out on the edge and don't be afraid to reach out to someone. You may have to step on some nails to get them, but you're leading them to God, it's all worth it. Yeah it’s great to have a friend or two that knows you well and likes the same things as you but don’t keep them closer than God. Start going to Him when you feel stuck, but also go to Him when you accomplish something. Make God important to you because you are certainly at the top of His list when you don’t even deserve that kind of attention.
Back to what I was saying earlier about making friends, keep the circle wide, but not to tight. The more time you spend with others, the more they shape you. When I moved to South Carolina in the 1st grade, it only took a month before I went back to North Carolina and everybody told me I had a country accent. (I really don’t though)
This isn’t as hard as it seems, just let me explain. Everybody is important right? Get to know people. See what they’re struggling with. See what they’re gossiping about. See what they love most. Then go back to your new bff, Jesus, and tell Him all about it with a prayer as simple as this.
Thank you for putting this person in my life and giving me the opportunity to point them to you and to also help me grow closer to you. They have a bad habit of “this” and really need some more of “this” in their life. Use me in whatever way to help Lord. Remind them that they are not alone.
Let me tell y’all, you will never have a friend greater than God and that’s just the truth. He created you, how could someone know you better than He does? He was crucified and beaten for you. How can someone have your back any more than He does? I know it’s nice to physically have a friend you can see and touch but God is soooo worth the long distance relationship. The closer you get to Him, the more you’ll realize how He shows up any and everywhere you look.
Never let a sinner’s words make you think you’re worthless. You are worthy with God and the best part is you don’t even have to prove yourself, He already knows the deal. Stop trying so hard to please others. I know it’s our job to spread God’s love and His word but some people just aren’t gonna let you speak but that’s okay. God hears you. He understands you. He knows that if you’re His child, you’ve already done great things and will continue to. He is as loyal and obedient as a dog. That’s saying a lot too.
